This was something that surprised me and I haven’t read elsewhere. I’m sure it’s been covered but I’ve missed it. It cropped up when I was trying to improve my performance in VR and asked my usual advisor  which is ChatGPT. I gave it screenshots of all my settings and I gave it a screenshot of the dev mode performance overlay. It told me that I had terrain LOD way too high. Anyway I’ll skip to the end of the story. It turns out that the terrain LOD at 400 was a 2D setting and because I always start a VR session in 2D and then switch to VR it does not swap over all settings to the VR settings. It continues with a number of 2D settings. So now I am mirroring all my VR settings in PC and I’ve had some excellent improvements.

very nice.

I dont understand how MSFS normal PC graphic settings can override VR mode graphic settings which has its own and separated configuration options.- I am sure that is not happening in my case.-

2D settings are not supposed to affect VR rendering, but it could be a bug.  Remember back when 2020 did something similar?  It was something like setting 2D LOD at 200 or something, made VR better?  Someone else here might have better memory than I do.

Has anyone else tried reducing 2D settings, like OP?

it's a bug, has been reported and has already been acknowledged.

"Settings also work just fine, if you always switch to VR mode BEFORE clicking settings icon . This is required only once during a gaming session, and after that you can switch between VR and 2D modes and enter settings page like you want.

If you go to settings page before switching to VR at least once, settings will be messed. I have set config file to read-only mode to prevent accidentally doing that and reseting my settings permanently. Ofc I also have backup of cfg file."
