AI Lights Reborn Pro for MSFS?

Featured Replies

I was curious to know if this will be made for MSFS. The aircraft lighting can definitely use some improvements. Especially the horrible looking nav lights looking like squares in the distance. Really kills the immersion of night/dawn/dusk flying. Also would love to see more realistic strobe patterns depending on the aircraft as well.

Something along the lines of these

I am waiting for the FX system to mature much more in MSFS, although they have released a new FX system very recently, unfortunately this new system doesn't allow to inject any "light" source, it only renders particles (textures) but no lights..

MSFS is at the moment in a transition between deprecating the old FX system and fully implementing the new one. The new one is still flagged as "BETA" and the old one is marked as "deprecated", however Asobo is using both for now, one for particles and one for lights and other things. So until this process is completed, it makes no sense to try to port AILRP to MSFS You need to be also aware there are also other impending issues to fully implement AI Lights Reborn as it currently works for P3D, for example if I managed to port this add-on to MSFS, the Live preview module that all current customers love cannot be implemented due to SDK limitations in MSFS.

The only good news I can give you is, I am in active conversations with Kaii @Kaiii3 from Alpha India Group, we know each other now for years and we have always helped each other with many things in the flight sim space world. Having the developer of the most used AI models in flight simulation industry fully cooperating with me, might help to overcome some of the issues described above so I could implement some sort solution.

So there are plans, things are in motion but it will take a while since I need Asobo / Microsoft to complete their transition period of the effect system, maybe even implement some features for me.

I never like to implement products using hacks, using undocumented methods in the SDK, etc. such things only brings problems for users on the long run, which would be ruining their immersion experience and quiet frankly making them frustrated.

I hope you appreciate my honesty and you don't feel too disappointed, I rather be honest and tell people that things need to wait so I can do things the "right way", I rather have lots of happy customers after a very long wait time instead of cooking a half baked solution that would just make them very unhappy with anything I release, my customers are always number one, I like to provide them with the best experience and also the best level of support, so if I cannot do something the right way, I rather not do it...

Finally many, many thanks for your post, it is great to see how much you like AI Lights Reborn, really made me smile when I read it this morning, it meant a lot to me.

Kind Regards,
Simbol

Yes, the aircraft lighting, AI lights (especiall the nav lights), airport lighting really needs to be improved upon. The default doesn't look that great. Especially when you go higher up in resolution, it gets worse. In 4k the nav lights at a distance looks like red and green squares. They do not resemble lights at all. I hope there will be a solution for this soon as it makes flying during dawn/dusk/night time really bad.

Your product really improved how all that looked in the sim for P3D and also changes the strobe patterns to make them more realistic. Strobe patterns for the many aircrafts in MSFS do not look realistic at all. There's so much work in this area alone that I hope Asobo will work on them soon.
