August 17, 20214 yr Hey guys, im new to FS2CREW and i tought im gonna open this thread, so we "newbies" can ask question to Bryan and the community to assist us. 🙂 As there is no manual/tutorial, i think this is a good way to get help as fast as possible without spreading our questions in different threads, i hope Brian and the mods agree with that idea? So, im making the start: - Am i supposed to still using a separate Checklist? When i strictly follow the Checklist the FO is reading to me, there are missing things that i have to do and that are not mentioned in the "CAPT/PF FLOWS ASSIST", for example the "EMERGENCY LIGHTS - ARM" does not appear anywhere but should be part of the Before-Start Checklist. Also the fuel pumps are not mentioned anywhere but are required to start the engines and should be part of a "startup Checklist" but there is just none. Its also not mentioned in the CAPT/PF FLOWS ASSIST. I assumed, that FS2CREW will include checklists, but it doesnt? So, when i search for a Checklist online, there is the risk of having a different one that FS2CREW is using which can mess up flows. This still leaves me with the question, how are we supposed to use FS2CREW correctly? Thanks for any hints... 🙂 Edited August 17, 20214 yr by Sandro Vitalini
August 17, 20214 yr Commercial Member Hi Sandro, You're confusing checklists with flows. You'll note in the Flow Assist panel if you're starting Cold and Dark that it says "Setup overhead panel" as one of the Captain's flow to do. That means you have to setup the overhead yourself. FO won't do it for you. There isn't room to write down every single switch name in the Flows Assist Panel, so we left it up to the user. In Airbus it's easy, the flow pattern is basically just start on the left side and go up and down the panel and set the switches as you want them. There's not much to do, just basically extinguish all the white lights (like the fuel pumps), set Adirs to NAV and run the fire test as need be. Running the lights test might also be a good idea, but it's flight sim and if you don't do it nothing bad will happen. The Airbus checklist used in FS2Crew is straight out of the Airbus manuals. In an Airbus checklist, they don't add every switch otherwise you'll be sitting there all day reading checklists and time is money. It's not like a Cessna checklist where they cover every little switch. Only the critical items are in an Airbus checklist. Basically, based on Airbus SOP, the Pilot Flying (that's you) does pretty well most of the cockpit setup work. The Pilot Monitoring doesn't really do that much. Watch this video... The guy is following Airbus procedures pretty closely. This is very close to what we modelled. Edited August 17, 20214 yr by byork B. York FS2Crew Web Site / FS2Crew Facebook Page / FS2Crew Discord

Yeah, im absolutely familiar with setting up an easy A320 and i understand it is not a Cessna. I just assumed that FS2CREW is including checklists and stuff, but assuming things is never a good thing... As older products had Checklists included, as i read somewhere, i just tought that would be the case here too. But obviously, this isnt the case. I really recommend you, for new users and users interested in your products, to get more information out there about what it is and is not before they have to buy it. But this info is a bit rare and one can only really find out when trying the product out. As yourself are calling it a "complex product", what it obviously is, there should be anything like a documentation, manual, or a Youtube video showing a full flight with the product.
August 17, 20214 yr Commercial Member Guess I have to put on my Martin Scorsese hat and make some videos. But we model the real-world factory Airbus checklist. It's almost identical to this one with the exception of the Portable Electronic Items challenge. B. York FS2Crew Web Site / FS2Crew Facebook Page / FS2Crew Discord
August 18, 20214 yr Ill admit a brief section in fs2crew with the flows for the pilot flying would be nice, in saying that I am currently supplementing this with a copy of the fs2crew flows from the FSLabs flows document which works well. elsewise its great I could also be dumb and be missing where it is entirely too Edited August 18, 20214 yr by MrSlyFox Addition to post
August 18, 20214 yr Commercial Member The Pilot Flying / Captain flow are presented in the Flow Assist Panel... press 'ASSIST' on the panel to see it. We could add them to the Info Center as well. But then we have the problem where people just see a ton of text and then they tune out. Our goal with FBW was to keep all text to an absolute minimum to prevent prevent people's eyes from just glazing over... and they just don't do anything. But your idea to supplement FBW with FS Labs is good... the procedures are more or less the same, but not exactly. Edited August 18, 20214 yr by byork B. August 18, 20214 yr hi, with the A320 Button Control we had to confirm the Runway on the Before Takeoff Checklist. is this missing on the new checklist or am I doing something wrong? btw no more flight without the new one anymore Klaus
August 18, 20214 yr Commercial Member We'll re-add that once we have RAAS up and running again in MSFS... then we can have the FO actually say the runway number. B. York FS2Crew Web Site / FS2Crew Facebook Page / FS2Crew Discord
