RXP - Update folder location rxpGTN-Fs.zip

Bonjour!

Merci

Hi,

You previous post is strongly indicating you have an anti-virus program deleting the file behind your back.

You might want to review your anti-virus quarantined items and make sure about this first.

Yes!
Antivirus Windows Defender Win 10
No folder is displayed in the exclusions.

I am on FSX Acceleration.
Does this update affect the proper functioning of my GTN?
If not, how can I stop seeing the update window on my screen?

And now I find the folder rxpGTN.FS.zip in the "Download" section but not in "Windows System32" which is already weird.
Right click on rxpGTN.FS.zip in the window the function 7.Zip does not appear?!

Well then don't right click to try opening it with a program you don't have on your computer (7z).

Instead just double click the .zip file to extract the content of the archive. Windows ships with its own .zip extractor.

PS: it is no different than any other .zip file. If you have already downloaded any .zip file on your computer from any website, it is no different.

Folder/Files exclusions is not what I was recommending you to check.

I was referring to cross-checking whether Windows Defender did put any "rxp" file in quarantine

Protection against viruses and threats

History - No quarantined RXP files

This is my problem and you know it.

I receive the update notification (now the July one) but download update does not install the rxpGTN-FS.zip file on my pc
(you are well informed of this, see our discussions of June 21

The proof as nothing is installed this notification comes back every day

I ask you again
Could a reinstallation of the GTN 750 solve this problem?

Hello,
After much research I was finally able to get my hands on this file thanks to "Everything".
It is in my home in  Windows \ SysWOW64 \ beidpp and not in Windows \ System32 as advertised in rxp.

See "Update RXP New version" of 06/23/21

Thank you for sharing this information, it will help other customers in the future.

Can you please clarify what you mean with "my home"?

I'd suggest you copy/paste the full path to the file on your system, starting from the root "C:" (most likely)

Hello RXP,
Excuse me for my late response.
My home = My PC
Here is the path:
This PC > Local Disk (C: \) > Windows > SysWOW64 > beidpp> rxpGTN-FS.zip
.....rxpGTN-FSSIM-Setup.exe
Yours truly

@Roland_Rcvau

Thank you for the additional information.

The question which remains is when you've got the update popup window displaying, and you've chosen "download", it most likely opened a folder browser to "C:\Windows\System32\". If you just click "OK" (or "SELECT" - I don't know what is displaying in other locales), it will save the downloaded file in the currently opened folder in this folder browser window.

In short, when the update popup displays, just browse to another folder that you know PRIOR pressing "OK"

NB: I've hidden our last 2 posts because this is a very specific folder and there is no need for more details about it now.

But I'm not sure the update pop-up will allow me to choose the folder that I will have previously created.
Anyway the next time the update pop-up appears I'll do what you ask me and keep you posted.

Yes please let me know if there is a bug preventing the selection of another folder next time.

After reflection I do not see how I could myself modify the path you have assigned to your update software, by default \ Windows \ System32

If your update is placed in ...> Windows> SysWOW64> beidpp> rxpGTN-FS.zip it is not my fault it is started automatically without any intervention on my part.

So I concluded that, being responsible for your software, you alone are empowered to understand this situation and make any modifications to it.

Of course I am open to all your suggestions that could improve or solve this problem.

This is exactly why I'm asking you a few more questions, in order to assess exactly what is happening on your system which is not supposed to, so that we can make the corrections, if any. In this particular case, here is what is expected:

1) The Software Update notification prompts you about an available update:

Notice: Select Download update, navigate to the folder you want to use to store the file, then choose save

update_notification_1.jpg

2) You click "Download update" to open a file browser window which defaults to the system folder:

update_notification_2.jpg

3) You navigate to another folder of your choice, like for example the default "Download" folder:

update_notification_3.jpg

4) You press the "Save" button to download the file into this location.
