Japan - The Nine Provinces

Featured Replies

Japan - Nine Provinces

Kyushu - meaning Nine Provinces - is the third largest island of Japan's five main islands and the most southerly of the four largest islands (excluding Okinawa).

Our departure airport is Kitakyushu (RJFR). We head west and cross the Kamnon Bridge and land at Ashiya (RJFA). About 20 miles to the southwest we land at Fukuoka (RJFF).

Before landing at Saga (RJFS) we overfly the River Lift Bridge near Okawa. We head northwest and reach the Ikitsuki Bridge where we turn southeast. The next landing is at Chisun-Inn-Omura (RJFU), the airport serving the Nagasaki area. We overfly the city of Nagasaki and head out over the water to find Hakashima Island. Here we turn back east and then north to stay over land. Then we turn east, overfly Mount Unzen. Reaching the coast we turn south and land at Amakusa (RJDA). We fly basically south and land at Kanoya (RJFY). From now on the general direction is north. We follow the coast and land at Nyutabaru (RJFN). We turn back inland and land at Kumamoto (RJFT). On the way to our destination Oita (RJFO) we overfly Mount Aso and Mount Kuju and search for the Kokonoe Bridge.

Documentation: Flight plan and a Pilots Guide are here.

Aircraft: The flight has 490 miles with 9 landings, so we want to cruise at about 250 knots. I will be in the MSFS TBM930. The small jets are also suitable. Please fly what you like.

Additional scenery: The only addon I found is the SamScene Japan Fukuoka (available as payware at ORBX)

Time and Weather
For takeoff set the simulator at 15:00 hrs local for October 2, 2021.
We try real weather.

Just a caution for TBM pilots. You might check to see if you can start the TBM from a "cold and dark" situation.

There seems to be a common problem with turning on the battery and the sim crashing. It appears to be associated with the WT G3000 (this has been acknowledged by the team) and awaits a fix by Asobo. (Lots of speculation about other associated causes that differentiate some users from others. See
here and here.) Several users report CTDs with a cleared-out Community Folder, so it is not likely that a single additional mod generates the failure.

My experience is that sometimes the battery switch works and other times it CTDs the sim. (Lots of the latter, and consistently so at today's RJFR starting spot.) We may have to wait for WT and Asobo to fix this.

In the meantime, if you are having a problem, load the aircraft on a takeoff runway with engines running and electronics functional. You might try
this start-location-modified version of Gunter's flightplan. Or alternatively, you could run the TBM without the WT G3000...not.

Very interesting (Picture Rowan and Martin;s Laugh In)

I thought I might give this a try before this evening. It (TBM) loaded in but G3000 black screen plus various control malfunctions. Shut down and disabled the G3000. Fire up again and got a CTD on loading. Tried another aircraft, all OK. When bact to TBM boom!

I'll try the new flight plan (Thought: Could loading a parking lot plan stick in MFS's throat?)

I'll be back

Thanks Mike!

Strange. I flew the TBM twice, yesterday and today, without any problems. Having said that, it'll probably fail later today...

Using the new plan and default G3000 EVERYTHING is spot on.
