In the past, I was a staunch believer in 3rd party AV and firewall, but in recent years reviews tend to recommend sticking with Windows' in-built solutions and I agree they are doing the job just fine. I have heard and read so many problems with McAffee that I'd never use it, and Norton was a good option for years but became so bloated and slowed my systems down that I stopped using it. Stick with Defender and Windows Firewall. Anytime the in-built option can do the job, use it. Fewer installed programs on a computer is usually a good thing. If you're going to those lengths, why not just install Win11 before re-installing MSFS. Seems more logical to me. Make sure you're satisfied Win11 works for you, then see if MSFS plays well with it.
