Why does people still using third party Virus protection in 2021? isn't Win Defender good enough?

I don’t know, Defender (and MSE before) is doing the job.  Over the years, I’ve seen many problems with Norton and MacAfee on FS forums that I wouldn’t touch them with a perch.

Its been man many years that I do not use third party AV, so far I haven't had any problems with viruses/trojans. As far as I'm concerned, Windows AV does a good job

In the past, I was a staunch believer in 3rd party AV and firewall, but in recent years reviews tend to recommend sticking with Windows' in-built solutions and I agree they are doing the job just fine.

I have heard and read so many problems with McAffee that I'd never use it, and Norton was a good option for years but became so bloated and slowed my systems down that I stopped using it.

Stick with Defender and Windows Firewall. Anytime the in-built option can do the job, use it. Fewer installed programs on a computer is usually a good thing.

If you're going to those lengths, why not just install Win11 before re-installing MSFS. Seems more logical to me. Make sure you're satisfied Win11 works for you, then see if MSFS plays well with it.
