October 22, 20214 yr The MD-11 retirement sent me looking at Centurion Cargo in Miami, which operated six of them. Here is Evanghelia, my former Sicilian legal secretary from NAS Sigonella, who later worked for Centurion as head of security and... her daughter! Now a pilot for Republic Airways! The last time I saw Stephanie she was a toddler. What a great picture of mom and daughter. She must be so proud. I was surprised to see FedEx and UPS still operating so many, but ultimately another victim of the TriJet curse. Reminds me of the L1011: an advanced airplane that came at the wrong time. And just as the L1011 was Lockheed's last commercial jet, so the MD-11 was McDonnell Douglas swan song. Heck, even PMDG expressed disappointment in sales of their MD-11 and it was one of my favorites.
