Taxiing Now a Slideshow

Featured Replies

After a few issues with some aircraft and mods, post-SU6 flying is OK for now.  However, taxiing is not.  Out in a rural area of Brazil for a couple of flights with scenery/models not extensive, taxiing doesn't just stutter - it freezes.  I will move for a second or 2, then it freezes, running 3-5 seconds on average.  Then, she'll move again for a few seconds, then freezes again - longest freeze was over 10 sec.

I've tried varying my video settings from moderate Custom to High and also changed the pre-caching settings from Low to High - a setting of Medium for pre-caching seems to be the best right now but she's still freezing every few seconds so the impact is minimal.

Once in the take-off roll everything smooths out and I'm able to fly at High settings across the board

I have had this happen a couple times recently (pre SU6).  Very random.  I just restarted the flight and it was all good.  Nothing to do with my settings as I had not changed anything.

I have tried that.  I've done 3 flights since the update - 4 restarts (2X each with the 1st 2) and there was no change.  For the 3rd flight I didn't restart but tried all of the different graphics changes.

Freezing was still the norm in all attempts and settings,

Sounds like typical MS server issues are you streaming the terrain?

On another whim I just reset my rolling cache - I won't be able to fly again till tomorrow, so I'll see if that helps then and report back.

Yes, I always have streaming running.  I've seen some people post in the past about changing the default server?  I may try that if the issue continues.

My guess is the momentary low fps that many of us are experiencing is related to all the server issues Asobo is currently having.

Try going to offline mode and see if the problem persists.

This morning's flight...

Taxiing is much better - back to just the occasional stutter or momentary freeze.  In the entire run to the runway I had just a couple of stutters - most of the taxi was smooth.

I reset my rolling cache and removed an optional part of Bijan's recent Seasons update (terrain mask).  I'm guessing that these items were behind the original issues.

I had the exact same issue.  I have a very nice pc usually running between 60 & 70 fps at 1080p and 120hz.  I tried everything I could think of in the settings menu and nothing stopped the slide show.  I eventually turned off photogrammetry in the data setting and that fixed everything.  The game is super smooth but I have no photogrammetry data on my maps so the towns that I usually fly in have default buildings.  Quite frustrating but the game is now playable.  I have never had this issue before btw, until SU6.
