November 7, 20214 yr Hey team, my current Windows 10 machine is starting to show its age with an i7-770KCPU @ 4.2GHz and an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 Ti all on an Asus motherboard. Anyway, my thought is to upgrade to this machine. Lacks Thunderbolt, but I'm liking the specs otherwise for flight sim as well as for video and phot editing Permiere and Phostshop- Lighthroom . https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1659393-REG/msi_aegis_rs_11tf_223us_aegis_rs_gaming_desktop.html/qa HP Omen Intel Core i9 @ 3.6GHz 64GB RAM @ 1596MHz, NVidia GeForce RTX 3090 Windows 10 64bit, 2 x 2TB SSD, 2TB 7200RPM SATA Drive
November 7, 20214 yr Personally, I would pick one with an I5 12600K plus DDR5 RAM in a few months when there's more DDR5 kits to pick from.
November 13, 20214 yr I have just upgraded from a 9900K to a 12900K using 32G DDR4 4400mhz and a 3080TI GPU.. DDR 5 RAM makes no difference in MSFS at this point... Fast DDR4 is more stable and cheaper. The 12900k is the biggest step up in performance. I mostly fly VR with a HP2 headset, Cheers Andrew

I mostly fly VR with a HP2 headset Given that my FS 2020 VR performance with a G2, 10850K and 3080 is mostly limited by GPU, I'm interested to know how much the 12900K improved performance in VR for you vs the 9900K? 9800X3D | 4090 | 64GB | 2+1TB NVME | 2TB SSD | 2TB HDD | 85/50/43” TVs | Quest 3 | DOF H3 Motion Rig | Buttkicker | T.16000M Flight Kit MSFS @ 4K Ultra DLSS Performance FG 80 FPS | VR VDXR Godlike 80Hz SSW | MSFS VR DLSS Quality, Ultra Preset - Windows 11 Acer Nitro 5 | i5-11400H | RTX 3060 6 GB | 32GB DDR4 | 15.6" FHD IPS 144Hz | 2 x 512 GB SSD | Windows 11
November 13, 20214 yr The big difference are: 1) Resolution 100% in Sim and Open XR (this was my number one objective as it makes the panels crystal clear and sharp.) 2) Terrain 200 3) other setting on high There is a performance difference between a 3080 and 3080TI, I have used both and found the TI to be much better (even on my 9900k)
