Checking for updates for 30 min. Sim is not launching

Featured Replies

Hey, simmers!  Today tried launching the sim and no success... I get message: checking for updates. And nothing is going on.. I tried to reboot the comp, turned off all the addons in my community folder. Nothing...

Just now tried again. Waited for the update check complete for about 30 min and then the sim started loading but when the bleu loading line reached the end the sim still didn't launch (waited for another 30 min). How can I resolve this problem? Never had such experience...

I had this a while back but sadly can't remember how I resolved it!  Do you have Steam or MS version?

Solved... Deleted file rollingcache.ccc and the sim finally launched.

You beat me to it. Seems that the cache causes problems with loading. Glad you resolved it.

Thanks for reporting back on this.  Shockingly, even though I deleted and disabled my rolling cache many, many months ago, I recently found a 20Gb cache file on the disk taking up room.

I just deleted it.  No issues afterwards.

Rob (but call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind).

I like to trick airline passengers into thinking I have my own swimming pool in my back yard by painting a large blue rectangle on my patio.

I know that sim updates have sometimes caused certain settings to reset. Could the rolling or other cache have turned back on without noticing? I had all the assist settings turn on, after one of the updates, and thought something felt a bit off, especially as I was taking off down the runway in a perfectly straight line 😅

Yes, possibly!  It has happened with other settings for me as well (controllers etc.).

I probably need to check in sim next time before manually deleting anything again.    No harm done though!

Not sure it is a factor or why it would be, but the sim has been perfectly stable since the W11 upgrade - excellent performance and no CTD's etc.
So maybe W11 refreshed a few things system-wise as well.  I am happy with it in any case.
