FS2020 disaster, need reinstall help please

Featured Replies

Hello,

Haven't played in months because: I just tried to uninstall FS2020 (Steam purchase) and reinstall it after a long series of failures to launch (and Bill Gates insisting on my cell number). Now I have an almost deleted FS2020 that still thinks it's alive and invites me to play and then locks up when it asks me to sign in. I am at a loss as to how to proceed. I don't know how or if I should wipe the game completely from my PC.

The only reason I want to get back into FS2020 is because I just saw that there is an F-104 available and that is just too much to pass on. If I knew how, I'd blow my present install out of the water and spend the money for a fresh install, because as it has been for months, the sim is unplayable either due to lock ups at the start or Microsoft insisting I give them my cell number because of "suspicious" activity in my account. Riiiiiiiight!

Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you.

Hello canadaOne👋

I don’t have Steam, I have the tear your hair out store version.

Since your game sounds like it’s up the creek have you tried to verify your files in Steam?

I understand this does not actually verify your files but wipes the install and then reinstalls the game.

This sounds like what you’re looking for!

The good news; the game has come on quite a lot in the last few months and the Starfighter is bonkers👍

Hello,

I know you from somewhere. Here or IL2 or DCS, not sure. But thank you for answering. I think I've already tried that, but I'll try again.

Steam -in this case - simply installs an exe. that takes you to Asobo/Microsoft and then you go through the whole process there. It's like Asobo/MS is keeping just enough files in my machine to think that FS2020 is there, but it's not. And I can't seem to find where those files might be to delete them. In "control panel" there is nothing to do with FS2020. I definitely have the tear-your-hair-out version as well.

I have no idea why they make this so painful. ☹️

Just here for support! I’m sure you will get your answer here. Trust your patience. The sim has come along way with so many aircraft and the quality continues to improve!  You will enjoy the sim immensely when you get going again! Especially when you fly the planes that you really love!

PS  Your avatar - the only album I bought twice because I wore the first one out!

I appreciate that. I would like to get back into FS2020, but it's really a headache to figure it out. Haven't given up yet. I really want to fly that F-104 over Canada.

And yes, it's a great album. Saw them three times live. Just wonderful.
