Bravo Quadrant Lights Problem

Recommended Posts

Hi: I am a fairly patient person, but I have tried everything I can think of to get the lights on the Bravo Throttle Quadrant to work...I have downloaded drivers, the drivers appear to be installed as the drivers are installed in my community folder...I have watched every YouTube video I can find on getting the lights to function, but nothing works...( I also fly P3d, and the lights work perfectly)...Can anyone give me suggestions on what else to try>? Thanks a lot,

Steve in Kansas

Try this, when you are in the main menu in msfs, manually start afcbridge, I pin afcbridge to my taskbar so I just click it and give it a couple seconds. I have to do it every time to get the lights to work. If I pass the main menu and go into the sim and try to start afcbridge, it won’t work, I have to make sure I’m in the main menu within the sim and start afcbridge.

So you must fly in Windowed mode? I have not done that yet...Always use Full Screen...I will give it a try tomorrow when I get home from work...Really appreciate the reply...Maybe MS will correct this in the next update...As I mentioned, the lights work great in P3d, so I am really hoping they will work in MSFS...Now saving up for the Alpha Yoke!

 No I fly in full screen, I have a second monitor, but if you are only running one monitor maybe you can alt+tab to get to your desktop and then start it.. by starting afcbridge manually while in the main menu for me works every single time, and if I don’t start it I get no lights every single time. So while this works for me, it’s really annoying when you get in the aircraft and realize you forgot to start afcbridge prior to starting the flight!

Love my alpha, I’m sure you will also!

Or install the mod called Better Bravo Lights and they will work perfectly.

I fly in full screen but pressing the Windows/Start button on the keyboard brings up both the start menu and the taskbar (Win10) without interrupting the sim. So if you need to access AFC Bridge (or anything else for that matter), just place a shortcut on the taskbar.

I believe I posted the solution to this in a post awhile back, at least one that makes use of the bridge without any additional work besides setup.  The issue is caused by other addons overwriting the exe.xml file in the sim tree.  I'm still on my first cup of coffee and all but suffice it to say that...hell I'll find it and post it in a bit.

Adn here it is:

For those who's lights no longer function you may need to reinstall the bridge software.  However in some instances this MAY overwrite the file so I recommend backing up the EXE.XML file located at 'C:\Users\YOURUSERPROFILE\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache\'

If you've installed FSUIPC or FS2CREW both of these packages do not respect the existing contents and will create a new file without the Aerosoft Bridge which will render your lights INOP.  I believe the Aerosoft installer (v2.x) will respect the contents and only adds itself but YMMV hence the backup of the EXE.XML prior to installing.  You can find the bridge on Honeycomb's site here: Honeycomb Downloads – Honeycomb Aeronautical (flyhoneycomb.com)

I hope that helps at least some of you with the issue.

I had installed FSUIPC previous to installing the Bravo Quadrant, so I suspect my exe.xml file has been corrupted...Is there a way to find a pristine copy of the file without reinstalling the entire program? (Yes I will back it up next time!) Thanks for your help...

I am desperate...Apparently my exe.xml file has been corrupted and I can no longer run the simulator...It returns me to the desktop immediately after the "Game Of The Year" splashscreen...I had just purchased the Bravo Throttle Quadrant and tried to install the program for it, "AFC Bridge"...Something screwed up! Here is a copy of my current exe.xml file:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="Windows-1252"?>
  <Launch.Addon>
    <Name>AFCBridge</Name>
    <Disabled>False</Disabled>
    <Path>C:\Users\LTCSZ\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache\Packages\community\AFC_Bridge\bin\AFC_Bridge.exe</Path>
   </Launch.Addon>
</SimBase.Document>

Could you take a look at it and tell me what's wrong? I have deleted the AFCBridge program from the Community folder, but no luck...I am really needing help, otherwise I am looking at deleting the entire simulator, downloading it again and redownloading all of my add-ons...Any assistance will be GREATLY appreciated!

I don’t have the solution, but something is terribly wrong, I’m not sure why you are having a hard time with it, for me it was plug and play with an afc bridge install, maybe a driver download form honeycomb but can’t really remember, did you get afc bridge from aerosoft?

Im really hoping someone has the solution for you, It can be frustrating for sure and I feel your pain as I’ve had my hardships with previous sims!

The problem for me was either fsuipc or pushback express, I haven't had time to find out what it was partly because of work commitments, then going on holiday, which I'm still on, but over Christmas I'll find out. If you have either, try uninstalling them , delete the bravo drivers, and then re install the bravo driver. This worked for me.
