December 14, 20214 yr I had read that each of the 10 Jets were modelled from real world Reno Racers and the final design was approved by each owner. What I missed was just how much the interior buildout/panel/avionics varies among the group. Some are equipped to very high standards, others so so and some very minimal. There is almost no specific information available about model numbers, but most seem to be the popular L-39C model. Same for the exact engine - I'm sure some have the American upgrades to Williams' engines along with the western gauges and avionics. I'm guessing that Microsoft/Asobo cut a deal with Lotus and got the better end of it. It would be great if we could find some sort of baseline for performance numbers when not being used in the Reno Races. I'm going to use it as a super-fast personal jet. A few of them are very well equipped with high end avionics and the underlying AP works on the long stretches. If we get lucky and a dev team adopts the Albatros we could end up with the Williams FJ44 4M or Garrett TFE731 engine upgrade and the user community can build up a good database for performance numbers and we could eventually have a good flightsim manual. Meanwhile, I am going to keep detailed notes and do some personal flight testing for my enjoyment. If anyone else has an interest in seeing this one entering the mod shop, let me know. December 15, 20214 yr They're in the fun category. Not in the Lotussim L39 category hehe. I bought a single one - Red Thunder I think - uses G3X and a decent autopilot. Some switches work and some don't. For 10 bucks it was worth it because I knew roughly what to expect. @raymar I forgot to mention I did a short review of this jet a few weeks back... Yep, that is our starting position, but hopefully a dev will take an interest and build some momentum. This is the panel I am flying today. It is the Marine Drop Bear livery. When Pigs Fly . Thanks for the eval. I bet there is someone out there (so many sim users loved the LotusSim L-39) that someone will go to work on the INOP switches and functions any day now. Ray When Pigs Fly . December 15, 20214 yr Author It is looking like a possible Mod for the L-39 is going to be more difficult than I thought - many of the necessary files are hidden. Bummer. Regards, Ray When Pigs Fly . Ray Marshall .
