MSFS traffic and weather connection issues

Featured Replies

Hi. Just heard about P2A yesterday and I love it so far with MSFS2020. However, when selecting SIM weather I constantly get either weather not available or incorrect weather such as 29.92 when its really 30.20. Also, even though P2A cant control the traffic it sees information about it such as its departure and destination so does it interact with it in a way other than traffic reports? For example, sequencing me behind planes already on final. What traffic alert settings do you recommend for me flying VFR in single engine planes? The 15nm 5000ft alerts pile up even when distant from an airport. Thanks :)

Also, does it handle things like bravo transitions?

P2A uses FSUIPC to get weather and it does not read MSFS weather at this point, as far as I can tell.  You should set MSFS to Real World weather and set P2A to NOAA weather.  That should give you a realistic weather environment.

P2A does sequence you behind other traffic for takeoff and on landing, it tells you if you are #2 etc.  The Traffic Engine should be sure it doesn't run an AI aircraft into you.

A good setting for VFR traffic is 5 NM and 2000 feet.  Much beyond that and you can't see it.

You can request entry to Bravo Airspace and you'll get cleared.  However, P2A doesn't check to see if you violate Bravo airspace or really control it because it is not yet aware of  the boundaries.  That is on the roadmap for a future version.

There are several videos out there that demonstrate VFR flying with P2A.

Correct. MSFS has no published facilities to obtain or set weather. And as far as we can tell there is no intention on the part of Asobo/MS to implement any of the SimConnect weather features in the future. It's a closed book except for one or two "favoured" developers such as REX which appear to have been given some sort of back door. Even then I think they have to use memory hacking.
