January 9, 20224 yr On Aug.8, 1945, 82 Squadron RAAF flew a daring long distance raid from their base at Labuan, Borneo to the Japanese airfield at Kuching, Malaysia. a 900km round trip The group flew P-40 Kittyhawks with drop tanks and manged to destroy 2 aircraft scrambling on the runway along with other targets. They shot up some barges along the river before heading home. It was a long day. Not having a P-40, I flew the route in the trusty KingAir.
