January 13, 20224 yr I have completed a couple of VFR flight plans and when I get handed over to approach I get no further instructions. Is it up to me to just land or should the ATC give me further instructions? Tks.
January 13, 20224 yr Commercial Member On a VFR flight without flight following, you would talk to Tower to takeoff. Then Tower would release you and when you get within about 10 NM of the arrival airport, you would contact that tower, on your own, and request landing instructions. With flight following, you would be handed from one controller to another, and if the destination airport has a Tower, you would be handed to Tower about 10-15 NM out. Dave
