January 19, 20224 yr Hi: I'm seriously thinking about to upgrade my old machine (i7 930+nvidia 970) this year. Don't get me wrong, my intention isn't ask you evey single part of the perfect computer. I would ask you about, as I put in the title, if you think that, with a budget of 1000€, would be possible set up a Pc exclusively for using MSFS with the next requirements: No need monitor, nor SSD HD (right now I have enough HDs that could use in the new pc) Only 1080p, not interested in higher res. I don't actually want to use VR in the long term. No overclocking... no tweaks, please... And now, the most important point: Be able to use TrackIR in a solid range of 30-40 frames (not high 20's, please) with high demanding addons like FBW or the future PMDG's 737 (and the first Cessna released by A2A, whenever this may be) in complex sceneries. IMPORTANT: My intention isn't to set the sim in ultra level. I will be more than happy with a medium-high levels without having to downgrade the resolution (maybe, I would love to put the clouds in ultra during the flight (not in ground), but it isn't a mandatory requirement). For me, the combo Intel+nvidia is mandatory. Although this time, I would prefer to choose an i5 than one of the higher performance processors family. Update: one more thing: The summer in my area is... insane. The temperature is a real problem. So I need a very reliable cooling system for the case and the processor. I don't have any idea about water cooling systems, so I don't know if I would be able to add this kind of systems in the budget. In any case, I need to incorporate into the budget a good quality cooling solution (air or water). I would like to emphasise that it would be a PC for MSFS exclusively. No vid edition o whatever other demanding tasks. My big concern is the actual situation with the insane videocard prices. And for this reason I came here to ask you. Right now I'm planing my anual budget and I'm not sure if with this amount of money would be possible to achieve these requirements. If I'm asking something imposible, I rather prefer stay with my old, but always capable, i7 930 flying only the Caravan with the awesome WT G1000 NXi. Thank you for you time. Very useful info. As they state in the article, this bench was made using default planes in a regional airport under overcast weather @1080p with ultra settings. It was made in May. If I remeber correctly, it was before SU5, isn't? So I suppose the performance with the last version of the sim will be better. In any case, I think the cards inside the range of 46-47 frames give me enough confidence to think that, in a system with a medium-high settings, the performance will be enough for achieving most of my requirements. The problem: the price. With a 3060Ti, even a 3060 we move into the range of 700-800€ (a bit insane, isn't?). A 2070 in the second hand market is similar, and pay such amount of money for a 2nd hand card is not something where I want invest into. So, it seems, with my budget, it isn't very feasible. At least right now.

Yes, I would take pre SU5 benchmarks as a rough indicator, but way on the low side compared to how the sim performs now. eg. I have a 3080 and now get 50 FPS avg at 4K under similar conditions, whereas that benchmark shows I'd be lucky to see that at 1080p! 9800X3D | 4090 | 64GB | 2+1TB NVME | 2TB SSD | 2TB HDD | 85/50/43” TVs | Quest 3 | DOF H3 Motion Rig | Buttkicker | T.16000M Flight Kit MSFS @ 4K Ultra DLSS Performance FG 80 FPS | VR VDXR Godlike 80Hz SSW | MSFS VR DLSS Quality, Ultra Preset - Windows 11 Acer Nitro 5 | i5-11400H | RTX 3060 6 GB | 32GB DDR4 | 15.6" FHD IPS 144Hz | 2 x 512 GB SSD | Windows 11
January 20, 20224 yr Now for the bad news. AMD, Intel, and Nvidia's CPU and GPU prices could rise another 20% in the next months. (guru3d.com) Raymond Fry.

(guru3d.com) Well, I suppose I will have to take care during some more time of my lovely ancient 930. BTW what a great processor, more than 10 years giving a great service.
