Looking for info on an usb to hdmi adapter

Featured Replies

Hi folks,

Im looking at adding hardware to my sim setup, in this case a gps unit. The unit I’m looking at requires me to plug into hdmi port however I already have my monitor plugged in.

My potential solution is to get a usb to hdmi adapter, I’m just curious if anyones used such an adapter and how exactly it works? How can a USB port have video capabilities without being plugged into the gpu?

An excellent and reasonable source of cables, adapters, etc. Used them for many years.

Here's an explanation on how it works: What Is USB to HDMI Adapter (Definition and Work Principle) (minitool.com)

I got one recently for my wife so she could have dual monitors connected to her laptop which only has one HDMI port. Works fine for that purpose at least.
