What is VS2005 for?

Featured Replies

Hey everyone, I am most likely going to reinstall fsx soon, then SP1 as it looks like a winner. I see VS2005 for third party addons on the insider site. What is this for?? Do I need this installed before installing SP1 if I use any add ons or something to that nature? It's not very clear exactly what this does. Thanks for your input.

I'm curious about this as well, can't find any documentation on it either... :'(

That's just the latest redistributable for the Visual Studio tools that some 3rd party addons may require to run. FSX doesn't build with the SP1 version of this, so we don't install this as part of our install, but some 3rd party products may be built with this and not ship it with their install either, so this is just a link to get it if you need it, basically if some of your addons are failing complaining about DLL version issues (for files like MSVCRT.DLL) or similar, then download this and see if that fixes it.
