P2A does not assign correct frequencies during flight

Featured Replies

Hello, I tried a flight from KJFK to KMIA.

ATC was correct from gate to RW. Then, I heard the same controller for 2.5 hours during the climb and cruise phase of the flight. P2A did not change the various CTRL centers.

Then I could not connect to KMIA approach control and P2A ask me to change frequency several times before I could get the right controller on final.

Did I miss something?

Make sure you update to the latest Public Beta.

Then, if this happens again, something likely has caused the connection to the SIM to go out or for the P2A heartbeat to stop.

Usually, you can just do the following to get things going again:

  • Disconnect/Reconnect P2A
  • File the Flight Plan
  • Make the initial call to the Departure or Center Controller you were on last

They will give you a fresh squawk code and things should progress normally after that.

I have 2.6.23R2 version.

I have correctly executed the procedure: import FP/validate/file then call for copying clearance, then call for taxi, then for departure.

Squawk code is entered

Everything is OK from clearance call to cleared for TO but then I get stuck with the same controller during climb, taxi and descent and I only get a new controller during approach phase.

Use random voice is on, and I have 15 random voices registered.......

You can check the Center controllers and their boundaries on the ARTCC tab of TaxiMnt.  It's not likely you'd be in a single Center airspace for 2.5 hours, but it is possible, especially if flying low and slow.

But from KFJK to KMIA, there should be several handoffs.

Please email the log file for the flight in question to [email protected] and I'll have a look.

P2A Log files are located in: C:\Users\<UserName>\AppData\Roaming\P2A_200\Logs where <UserName> is your PC user name.
Portions of the path may be hidden by default, so be sure Windows Explorer has Show Hidden Items checked in the View tab.

Dave, I'm having the same issue it seems. Comms go as expected until I'm handed off the the first center. Then, nothing after that. Flew MROC-MMCZ, cleared to FL430. Was never cleared above FL270 by center and never passed on to other centers.

I cycled the connect and was cleared to FL310 but the comms remained the same.

I had 2 other flights that basically went the same.

Flew the same route again. Was careful to get the comms sequence in order. Did not have any issues
