May 20, 200719 yr Yup, that worked. Textures (ground, aircraft, weather) are definitely sharper and with other tweaks I'm getting fairly good FPS numbers except at very large airports like KJFK (less than 10fps) - 18-20fps. Application load time is now down to 2.5 minutes. This is with a single core machine. Specific fsx.cfg entries that have helped my system are:(DISPLAY)TEXTURE_BANDWIDTH_MULT=100UPPER_FRAMERATE_LIMIT=40RUNWAY_LIGHTS_SURFACE_SCALAR=0.30RUNWAY_LIGHTS_VASI_SCALAR=0.30RUNWAY_LIGHTS_APPROACH_SCALAR=0.30RUNWAY_LIGHTS_STROBE_SCALAR=0.30NOTE: The last four entries above tone down the airport lights. The higher the number the larger the glow effect. I don't know about you but those large red glow balls look weird.(MAIN)FIBER_FRAME_TIME_FRACTION=0.33(DISPLAY.Device.NVIDIA GeForce 7800 GTX .0)MipBias=7(DISPLAY.Device.NVIDIA GeForce 7800 GTX .1)MipBias=7NOTE: The above entries are associated with my TripleHead2Go setup. Those with standard graphics display functions will only have one entry.(TERRAIN)LOD_RADIUS=4.500000MESH_COMPLEXITY=100MESH_RESOLUTION=25TEXTURE_RESOLUTION=29AUTOGEN_DENSITY=3DETAIL_TEXTURE=1WATER_EFFECTS=4TERRAIN_MAX_AUTOGEN_TREES_PER_CELL=2500(JOBSCHEDULER)AffinityMask=1(BUFFERPOOLS)PoolSize=5000000System:Intel 955XBK Extreme motherboardIntel 3.8GHz CPU (single core)4Gb Corsair 800 FSB DDR2 RAM(2) 250Gb HDDs RAID 1NVidia 7800GTX graphics cardThermaltake liquid coolingFSX SettingsMost sliders are now to the right except of course Autogen. Right now I'm using "normal." I'm letting the application determine filtering and anti-aliasing. One of the items that now seems to work better is traffic. I can now set my traffic slider to max and although I still get some hesitations at least I can now fly and have AI (I don't use default traffic).I tried some of the other tweaks mentioned in these posts but they either made my system unstable or did not work.Frank
May 20, 200719 yr I just set mip to "4" in both "display" and "display.device". It removed quite a bit of shimmering, without inducing any blurries. Good!Jaap Verduijn.
