March 24, 20224 yr Up until now I had been satisfied with how P3DV5.3 with HF and the latest version of AS 8080 was handling clouds and weather. I had not seen the blocky patterns of the past until I pulled up an airport (YSTW NSW Australia at 1800 hours) that was reporting overcast cloud at 5100 ft and Thunderstorms in the area right on sunset. This is what it looked like - downright strange and it did not matter which direction you panned or swiveled to it looked the same. I have not seen this before. Not sure if this an outcome of the light and time parameters but there is no doubt this is just a very strange overcast sky. The sun was just below the cloud level and setting on the horizon. Switching off GodRays and Amortise cloud and bumping cloud up to ultra did nothing to fix it. Food for thought. It just might be this combination of sun angle cloud amount that is producing this block row effect. Ten minutes later this is the same view now the cloud has settled down but the sun reflection on the bottom of the cloud is still way too much. This has to be an EA issue alas. Now the sun has gone and night is falling. This is bow quite reasonable and in fact very good with the odd cumulus buildup highlighted and the cloud is good or quite realistic. This what LM needs to see to tweak EA properly. Real weather and this type of light parameter. Just a brief period of weirdness but still!! March 24, 20224 yr Nothing wrong. It's the way TrueSky is implemented. Missing cloud variaties, missing directional source lighting, missing clouds casting shadows on clouds, missing light strength decreases with distance from light source, missing better sky colors, missing better haze interpolation with clouds.... All this is missing and making it look like above. Marcus (Beta Tester P3D) Regards, Marcus P.
March 24, 20224 yr Author That is the mystery why LM have not properly implemented True Sky -they have the license or have they taken on board a cut down version to reduce the costs I am sure the more P3D copies go out the door the more they would have to pay TrueSky. Then again maybe they just don't get it. Frustrating! Still the other mob can't implement real time weather interpolation and display either in that sim! Edited March 24, 20224 yr by coastaldriver
March 24, 20224 yr Do you have Volumetric Clouds checked? Even LOW setting gives me the blocky patterns. VC OFF! Stan
March 25, 20224 yr I think in the first picture there was a certain amount of time were ASP3D didn't update the clouds with their cloud control setting So weather and clouds where injected, but with standard volumetric cloud data. I've seen it too, that sometimes it takes a view minutes then suddenly the ASP3D volumetric cloud control kicks in. Marcus Regards, Marcus P.
