May 21, 200719 yr As SP1 has arrived I am now going to buy FSX but I want a copy that has SP1 as part of the DVD rather than having to download it. A 200Mb download really is not practical where I live. What marking on the box will tell me whether the DVD inside is SP1 included before purchase & when did they start being despatched in the UK? It might be a very obvious big sticker but please don't laugh as I need to know! Even a big sticker won't necessarily help with online purchases.Chris
May 21, 200719 yr I don't think they're ever going to release disks which include SP1. I'd say your best bet will be to pick up a copy of PC Pilot in a couple of months from now. PC Pilot is a UK mag, so you shouldn't have any trouble find a copy. They're bound to have it on there cover DVD.Alternatively, unless you're on dial up you should consider downloading it. I managed to download it in 9 minutes, and my connection isn't a super fast one.Mike. Mike Beckwith
May 21, 200719 yr ChrisIf all else fails, I'll burn you a CD and mail it to you as long as you buy me a beer next time you're in London. Regards, Max (YSSY) i7-12700K | Corsair Vengeance LPX 64GB 3600MHz DDR4 | Gigabyte RTX4090 24Gb | Gigabyte Z690 AORUS ELITE DDR4 | Corsair HX1200 PSU

May 21, 200719 yr At a minimum there will be a several month delay before a retail box of FSX would be on store shelves. They would have to start another manufacturing run to create an updated version.I have several games from other companies which have never had the retail version updated. The experience from my work is that the new version of a product like Windows XP or MS Office 2003 is about six months after the release of the SP is a version with the SP preloaded available. However, I do NOT expect this to be the case with FSX. They may have an updated version available some day, but I would not hold my breath. What you might see is the Enhancement Pack for FSX scheduled for late this year on DVD, and it might include the SP1 update on the disk. That's pure guess work/ wishful thinking on my part - but the earliest I'd expect a disk from MS with the SP1.
May 21, 200719 yr Oh well. There was me naively thinking that they would start shipping the updated version immediately - particularily as what they are shipping is not apparantly a great product without it for many users! I am happy enough top wait for the next PCPilot which should be in about 3 weeks to see if it is included on the cover disk. If not I will try the local city library or take up the kind offer of the CD for a pint! I do hope the expected 500Mb SP1 download for Vista is on magazine cover discs or that 25 hour FSX SP1 dial up download will be 60+ hours!!!!Chris
