What's wrong with this stupid installer / updater?

I installed WU8 without a single problem, did a few flights and everything was perfect.

And today I wanted to test the new Chancellor but MSFS decided that it's time to reinstall every single uninstalled item of the simulator.

A total of 27 GiB: every uninstalled airport, livery, tutorial and landing challenge.

Thank you Microsoft/Asobo!

Ciao Michael

You probably did not delete those items in the simulator but "by hand" in the official folder, did you? That triggers MSFS to redownload. Just delete them in the content manager and it won't get redownloaded.

For transparency: I'm a community mentor at the BATC discord. However, I do not get paid for it in any way.

Yea I've been updating since the game launched and never ever ran into a single problem I keep seeing other people mention. Most likely they are doing something non-standard with their installation for various reasons. Not saying that's bad, but don't just go blaming the installer that's been working fine for the majority of people

No, everything was deleted in the content manager and it worked fine for months.

I don't blame the sim, it is running very stable and I had no problems with all the WUs and SUs or the betas.

What I don't like is that you got no choice or any kind of info why it happens.

Btw it reinstalls only the deleted items of the base install and not the ones of the premium content, but also resets all sim settings.

It's annoying to waste 1.5h in order to go back flying.
