MFS - xBox vs MS Store installations...

Featured Replies

Yesterday after finding out abou LPBJ having disappeared from my MFS not being possible to place my aircraft there, and because I stupidly skipped checking at the official forum if anyone had already reported it, I decided to make a clean install of MFS.

I had a backup with SU7, so I ran the installer and was prompted ( a firt time for me... ) if I wanted to install it into F:\xBox... In the past I naver had this option active, but I decided to give it a try.

Noticed that appart from the usual system folders that the installer creates in y F: disk / partition, there was now also an xBox Games folder and inside of it a "Microsoft Flight Simulator" folder.

I copied my "Community" and "Official" folders into the newly created Flight Simulator folder undr xBox and then when MFS started it pushed around 9,7 GB of update, from SU 7 t SU 8 + Iberia WU8...

Apparently all is good, although LPBJ and other aerodromes that worked pre-WU8 aren't available anymore.

I wonder if there is any advanage in opting for an "xBox"-like install other than for people who have other xBox tittles in the PC ? Any comments w/ suggestions elcomed 🙂

I don't know if it matters where FS is located unless you participate in the beta updates. For some reason MSFS says there are fewer update problems from a beta release if you use a non suggested place to put MSFS. (Any place other than any of the suggested default places causes fewer problems. At least that's what Microsoft says in their online help articles).

Thx !

No LPBJ is certainly not dying 🙂

Regarding the install out of the default folders, that's what I have been doing since the beginning. I just never had the suggestion to install into xBox...

During the first run when after the initial core install, when the UPDATE comes it does suggest the usual default folder, and that's when I change it. This turn aroumnd I pointed it to the xBox folder it created in my F: drive.
