How do the EFB checklists work?

I click on a checklist but nothing happens - is it supposed to bring up the checklist or am I misunderstanding the purpose of the EFB checklist page?

No. My understanding is it just shows the overall flow. The checklists can be accessed through the checklist icon in the toolbar that pops up at the top of your monitor.
