April 27, 20224 yr Three seats welded joined together in a row, flew out of a Lockheed Electra commercial airliner struck by lightening, and acted as a parachute. She landed in the Amazon rain forest. None of the other passengers survived. Was hurt badly but found a large bag of candy in another passenger's bag and walked 11 days along a stream knowing it might lead to a larger river and thus hopefully to people. Werner Herzog was making a film Aguirre the Wrath of God set in the rain forest and was supposed to be on the same plane, but changed his plans. He made another film ten years later set in the same region, Fitzcaraldo. So anyway, Herzog made a documentary of her adventure Wings of Hope.
