How to add liveries to AIGs MD-82 AI Maddogs?

Featured Replies

With the recent exponential growth of MD-82s flying on VATSIM, everyone is using a different livery in their sim but as AIGAIM only had installed two airlines that are still flying the MD80 (European Air Charter and Iran Air), I'm facing the fact of seeing just BUC and IRA liveries around me, despite their callsign are SAS, AZA, AAL, DAL, FIN and many more.

Via the SimObjects folder of my AIG installation, I've found out AI Aardvark is the contributor of the MD-82 AI Model.

AIA has got a nice list of many real world liveries for their AI Model over here: https://ai-aardvark.com/aiaircraft/repaints/md_8x/md_8x.html

Can I just download a livery and install it into ... SimObjects\Airplanes\AIGAIM_AIA_MD-82 (with fltsim entry in aircraft.cfg and correct paths and so on)?

What gives me gersberms is that you download some of those liveries from the FS2004 section of AVSIMs library...

It feels weird to put 15 year old textures in the community folder of a three year old sim and common sense tells me not to do so... 😂🥴

But does that work this way? Has anyone tested this before and did it work?

Or is there another way of getting 30/40 r/w AI liveries into the sim for VATSIM Model Matching?

If the liveries are made for the AIG used model, then yes, it's basically as you described. I have not tried it yet, though.

For transparency: I'm a community mentor at the BATC discord. However, I do not get paid for it in any way.

Old textures will not work with the new model without some modifications

is there any converter to make old textures work in the new model for MSFS?
