I need help! Audio issues

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

I had a two year break on my simulator and my pc. When I started all again i did a clean install of my Windows (10) and P3dv4 and all the addons. I am using the same equipment I did 2 years ago and everything worked fine no changes, and now I am having audio issues and I can't seem to find a way to make it work. I read all the topics and that subjects and applied everything that I could and was relevant to me, with no success. I know also that the issue must be somewhere in my system because as said I was using the same equipment and it was all working fine. I ran out of ideas...

Now, to be more precise. When I start Fs2crew it picks up my voice and after a while it stops. When I go online on VATSIM to do a radio check they are telling me that my voice is static. However, three days ago, I was able to do 1 hour touch and go and my voice worked absolutely fine. After I have finished, I turned of my pc and next day turned it on, started everything and audio was gone again.

I even did a restart of the audio via the system app. I use Logitech G533 headphones.

Question:  I get no headset audio, or I'm losing my audio.

Answer:

1. Uninstall your current audio drivers via the Windows Control panel, and re-start your system.  You want to use the Microsoft "Realtek" drivers.  Sometimes, custom audio drivers can cause this issue. DONE

2. In Windows Sound options, uncheck the option that allows programs to take "exclusive" control of your audio device. DONE

3. Update your audio drivers. DONE

4. Be mindful of not switching rapidly between full screen and windowed mode. I ALWAYS FLY IN WINDOWED MODE

5. Open the Windows "Volume Mixer".  Ensure the "Applications" slider is not muted. ALL ARE UP

6. Use a USB headset rather than one that plugs into the jack in your sound card. You don't need a fancy one.  A $20 generic one will do. BLUETOOTH HEADPHONES I EVEN CHANGED THE PORT

7. Ensure your USB port is not going to SLEEP.  This can especially be a problem if using a USB hub. ITS DISABLED

Also, the 2018 Windows Spring Update appears to add new "privacy" options for your microphone that, if enabled, can turn off your microphone. ALLOW APPS TO ACCES MIC IS ON

Thank you for any ideas that you might have!

Hi Daniel,

If VATSIM is not working as well, maybe there is a problem with your headset?

That's a wireless headset, right?

Wireless can be prone to interference, dropped connections, dead batteries, etc.

We generally recommend a cheap USB generic headset.  They're less prone to issues.

Hi Byork,

The headset are working properly they work with other programs, they have no batteries they are charged via usb cable. But i will try another headset and see if that is really the problem. I was using them just fine before.

Thanks
