June 2, 20224 yr Has anybody ever figured out how to set precise wind speed in MSFS. If I set 4.4km/h (yes it says "km/h") I get 29kts. Also, what is the meaning of the "gust" value. Added to wind speed? It seems to be even worse. Even though ATIS says 29 kts, I get only 7 kts in the air. June 2, 20224 yr This has been annoying me since msfs was launched. The wind speed set is nothing like the wind speed in the sim. I ask for 10 kts and get 25 or 30 kts. Surprised nobody has mentioned it before. June 3, 20224 yr Yes I was fighting with the wind in MSFS today. I set absolute zero wind and (obviously) zero gusts, yet the Sling S4 was darting around like mad, like it was in a gusting crosswind! June 15, 20223 yr I found a fix for this today, switch your units in your settings from 'hybrid' to 'US'. For some reason Asobo's really mucked up their Km/h to knots calculation. Once you put it back to US Imperial, the wind speed you set (in knots) will be what you actually get. Also, the wind speed doubles once you get above 1000 AGL, which I gather from other forum posts as Asobo's simulation of ground friction on reducing wind speed (which apparently isn't particularly accurate?).
