Auto Pilot G1000 strange issue

Featured Replies

So I currently have the AP issue with every plane I fly (usually G1000) I take off climb turn on AP NAV or HDG and at some point the plane goes hard left and falls out of the sky. This almost always unrecoverable, basically I do what Maverick did in the original Top Gun. I have reinstalled the Sim, empty Community folder, no add-ons, Vanilla settings, set the deadzones etc and nothing has helped. I also tried the NXi panel and that didn’t work either. Incredibly frustrating that I have yet to complete a single flight since purchase!! Been a flight simmer since flight sims were created.

This has happened to me and was cured by calibrating my Yoke Controller in Windows.

So I tried your suggestion and did a test flight and while on NAV mode after 5 minutes of perfect flight she turned left and fell out of the sky, I was able to recover and then switched to HDG mode. The plane flew great for about 10 minutes and then she turned left and fell out of the sky unrecoverable😞 During both incidents the AP never shut off BTW.

Sounds like uncommanded control input - like a noisy potentiometer, however you said the autopilot is never disabled, so input disabling autopilot doesn't necessarily make sense.

What controls are you using?

Try unplugging all usb devices and plugging them back in. If still experiencing the problem, unplug all usb devices you don't use while simming and try again.

I have had the same problem.. the AP never switched off..

Calibrating the controls in my case did not work reliably enough and I ended up replacing a potentiometer in my CH products yoke.

Since that, all has been well..
