How do you reset the C414.

I had engine failure on the C414. The next flight the engines wouldn't start up. Does anyone know how to reset them?

You might take a look at the state.cfg file that gets saved after each flight. It contains data about the flight including the remaining fuel and engine times. Perhaps this got corrupted, or something was stored about the engine failure. If you rename the state.cfg file to back it up and start up the sim, a new state.cfg file will be created. If this solves your problem, you can then copy and paste info from the old file to the new if there are items you want to save, such as engine Hobbs time.

On my standard MSFS store install, the state.cfg file is at:

C:\Users\...\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache\SimObjects\Airplanes\flysimware_Cessna_414AW

BTW, what kind of engine failure did you have, and why? Did you have failures enabled at the sim level? If so, maybe another thing to try is to turn that off.

I forgot to reduce my RPMs and stressed the engines out and they shut down. I was trying an IFR flight I'm not used to doing that. Thanks for your comment I'll try that out when I get back on the computer.

As far as I know, the C414 does not inherently model engine failures, so that is why I was thinking failures might be on at the sim level.

I checked I don't have engine damage on. Renaming state.config worked thank you!!!

That happened to me once as well, for the same reason.  But after I restarted a new flight with the C414 it started up just fine.  Strange that it didn't for you.

I have been thinking about this a bit more, and since the C414 does not have failure modes, I now think you might of run out of fuel. And if so, that lack of fuel got saved in the state.cfg file. The State.cfg file values get reloaded when you load the next flight, so, for example, adding fuel in the hanger gets overridden by the state.cfg values when the flight loads.  Chances are on you next flight you still had no fuel loaded unless you recall loading more fuel. I should have asked you to check what your original state.cfg file had for fuel levels.

That makes sense.
