Airspeed Indicator Drops to Zero During Autoflight

Recommended Posts

I've been having a problem since SP1 with the Airspeed indicators dropping to zero during autoflight...the result being that when the autopilot speed is set, the aircraft attempts to keep thrusting to meet the set speed, but of course, since the ASI is at zero and is stuck there...well, you see what I mean...this has happened now on every aircraft 747, 737, A321 and CRJ and on every flight that I've tried...I just executed a clean uninstall and reinstall and the problem persists...Any ideas?Thankshttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/174255.jpg

Could be pitot tube icing. Turn on pitot heat and see if that eliminates the problem. If it's already on, then I'm at a loss for ideas.Ian.

It's the icing "feature" in FS. Problem is, the pitot heat doesn't always eliminate the problem. I'm not sure if the default planes work okay this way, but I know several add-ons in FS9 didn't seem to correct the pitot heat issue. Active Sky allowed users to disable the icing since it's unrealistic anyhow. I haven't installed FSX yet, but sounds like the same issue.

Just a guess, and I haven't tested anything, but I'm thinking that if the pitot heat is not working, your aircraft.cfg might be missing some sections? Particularly:- under <-- square bracketsyou need to have a line for the Pitot heat bus, etc.- a pitot heat section <-- square bracketspitot_heat=1.000000Thomas[a href=http://www.flyingscool.com] http://www.flyingscool.com/images/Signature.jpg [/a]I like using VC's :-)N15802 KASH '73 Piper Cherokee Challenger 180

The only cure I know of for this behavior is to use the features in FSUIPC to limit the icing level...I assume it works the same in FSX as for FS9.RegardsBob ScottATP IMEL Gulfstream II-III-IV-VSantiago de Chile

Thanks for the help everyone, I'll check Activesky and FSUIPC, and eliminate the icing default to see if that helps...
