January 22, 20233 yr My alternative to default ATC is this: https://www.stickandrudderstudios.com/x-atc-chatter-overview/ (Don't forget the current beta from: https://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?/forums/topic/258541-x-atc-chatter-171-beta/) Don't be fooled by the name as the ATC clip player is only half of the functionality. The other is a communications generator, SimpleATC, using text to speech. While this ATC will not really actively guide and monitor you, the advantage is less proneness for annoying bugs or other strange behavior. You're completely in charge of what to say at which point and as long as you stick to your procedures, there is zero difference to other ATC plugins in terms of immersion. The price tag for X-ATC-Chatter only applies to access to the chatter clips and as far as I know ATC is fully functional in the demo version with the beta updates.
