September 6, 20223 yr I don't see ATC mentioned on the website--isn't XP12 supposed to include a significant re-work of the ATC system? Has anyone tried XPUIPC to see if it is working with XP12? That might allow P2ATC or Radar Contact to work. Edit: Attempted a VFR pattern at KHIO Hillsboro OR. It's very generic phraseology (which makes me assume there are no differences with regional areas)... logically it's alright but doesn't really make a lot of sense in the USA. It says "taxi for circuits" instead of patterns etc. I couldn't seem to tune the ATIS frequency in the list of options. So when I pulled up to the runway the dialogue gave me an option to check the weather on tower freq. And then for takeoff clearance it told me make right traffic RY 31L. Not unheard of (and I've given and been given similar instructions to fly a pattern on the opposite side of the field with parallel runways), but pretty rare. So in this case HIO has RY 31L and R. ATC should have said "make left traffic" etc etc. Once there the dialogue said "report downwind." I did that and it noticed I was on a "late downwind" (sure hehe), but then said "report final." On base I selected touch and go and it said "touch and go your discretion." Which is definitely not what you'd hear irl (probably anywhere in the world). Then I peformed a T and G, made right traffic again, and there was no option again for clearance (hey, the sim told me at my discrection).... then a popup window said I was in violation of ATC lol. So IDK....pretty archaic similiar to FSX, P3D, MSFS etc. This is why I've always used either No ATC at all or PilotEdge/Vatsim. September 6, 20223 yr The menu system is updated and can now use one button to act as a shift for the hat switch. Keeping that button pressed allows to navigate the ATC menu with the hat switch without moving your hands from the yoke.

September 7, 20223 yr Tried the new ATC system yesterday. It's a welcome step in the right direction, but definitely needs more work. If you deviate from your assigned taxi path, the controller will warn you every two seconds, spamming the communications channel. Transmitting while another agent (ATC or AI) is transmitting will earn you a reprimand from ATC. While realistic, you have no indication if the other agent is actually done talking. A beep or some open mic feedback noise after the first attempt at a transmission would help. Since XP12 runs so well, one can crank the number of AI aircraft up now. But since XP's AI system only involves aircraft doing pretty random things, this consequently leads to a constant stream of chatter over the airwaves because ATC is way too overbearing on any aircraft and constantly issues instructions. This makes flying under ATC control nigh impossible because there just isn't a gap to make a call. 7950X3D + 7900 XT + 64 GB + Linux | 4800H + RTX2060 + 32 GB + Linux My add-ons from my FS9/FSX days
September 7, 20223 yr I took off from a non towered airport (Auburn, WA) and only Center frequencies were listed. Anyone noticing this at other non-towered airports.

September 8, 20223 yr Apparently this os going to be a bit of a disappointment for me 😒 because I had watched the Dev video about it and built higher expectations... The fact that AI and / or rw-injected Traffic not being Controller, if I correctly understood from what I read and watch in the streams... September 8, 20223 yr As far as I can tell this is now the official alternative to MSFS should the powers that be at Microsoft change hands and ruin a great platform. XPlane to me is no longer in the cartoon simulator category and from here can only get better. Seeing this is the early access version I'm more than happy with what I'm seeing with visuals, weather, and ATC so far. September 10, 20223 yr Author I tried to get Radar Contact 4 to run in the XP12 demo as I do in XP11 with XPUIPC and RC4ToXplane, and it CTDs at scenario start. A little troubleshooting suggests XPUIPC is running OK (no idea if there's good data being passed in the relevant offsets), but RC4ToXPlane is triggering a crash in XPLM every time. I hope the MCE guys can get it working in XP12. January 22, 20233 yr Well heres hoping you get something worked out Bob. The XP ATC is woeful!. I just fly without it at the moment. All the problems mentioned above, greyed out or unselectable frequencies, stupid taxy guidance etc. I tried the give me directions to the airport on one flight - ATC had me going here there and everywhere but never in the direction of the airport. Aborted that flight. No better than FS or P3D.
