Exporting flight plan .rte for PMDG 737-800 FMC.

Featured Replies

Hi all.

Does anyone have any idea how to successfully export an .rte flight plan for use in the PMDG 737-800 (MSFS)?

When I create a flight plan (validated in P2ATC) and export it for use in the FMC, I only get WPT1 and WPT2 exported when importing via the FMC. The rest of the plan is missing. Is there any way to have the complete plan exported and utilised by the FMC in the 737-800 or do I need to program the FMC independently? It sure would be extremely handy if I could export/import the entire plan.

Any help very much appreciated.

I can't access the YouTube video, but I suspect you entered the departure and destination airports and then used AutoPlan or just added SID, STAR and Approach manually.

If that's the case, then the only waypoints in the route are the 2 airports.  Most FMCs only "load" the non-procedure portion of the plan so the Pilot can then enter the departure and arrival procedures, based on current weather conditions.

@Peter Webber I already use this method as well as using navigraph on occasion to plan flights and I can then save the .rte in the FMC itself to the /work/flightplan folder for easy retrieval later in the FMC (if flying the same route). It's just another layer and more windows open sometimes though which increases the clutter across different monitors. I was hoping it might be possible to do it from within P2ATC itself. It's not a massive deal as I can just input the same SIDS/STARS manually into the FMC that mirror what I have set up in P2ATC and add any additional waypoints in the same way. I can then save that route through the FMC itself for use when I fly the route again.

@Dave-Pilot2ATC That's pretty much what I did do tbh. It was just a short test flight from Dublin to Manchester (EIDW to EGCC) to further configure P2ATC. Thank you for extending my free trial btw as a result of me not being able to find the time to fully configure it first time around. I've got to say I'm pretty much sold on it now and will be purchasing it imminently. It's so much more than just an ATC program and is really handy in proving a lot of necessary information on one screen as well as providing a lot of additional functionality. It's so much nicer to fly with that than the default and rather irritating built in ATC. I've combined mine with the ATC Chatter plugin as well and it really lends to the overall immersion. Brilliant job on what you have achieved with this to date. I should have purchased it much sooner.

If you use SimBrief to create the plan, and export the plan to .rte format for download to your .../work/flightplan folder, you can use the P2A web import feature for SimBrief that imports the plan directly from the website so you don't have to download multiple plans.

@Dave-Pilot2ATC I was trying to avoid having to use Simbrief if possible just to save on windows clutter (I sometimes have 5 monitors running depending on aircraft) as I like to try and dedicate specific monitors to specific plugins/apps/popouts/FIPS etc but, I guess Simbrief isn't going anywhere anytime soon. It's no big deal to implement  a couple of extra steps from time to time. I suppose if I do use Simbrief it can put the meat and potatoes of the flight plan into P2ATC, Navigraph and the 737-800 FMC at the same time leaving me to add the extras accordingly. I think I was trying to look for the lazy option to some extent.

As an aside, could you possibly send me an electronic invoice as opposed to paypal for purchasing the software? My paypal is connected to a different email address and I like to keep all my flight sim related stuff on my gmail account for easy reference. I will send my email to you just now.
