St. Barts in FSX?

Featured Replies

Whilst the default scenery of TNCM in FSX is quite good, the runway at St.Barts seems to be wrongly located or the mesh / coastline is incorrect, rendering the default rendition of this tricky and pictureque local airport unrecognisable.I am aware of France VFR rendition of both St Maartin and St Barts for FS9 (pathced for FSX), but is anyone aware of a way to use any other alternative in FSX (e.g. Fly Tampa) or freeware, that may have been available for FS9? It seems such a shame not to have a great rendition of St. Barts.Unfortunately I am not very skilled in making scenery otherwise I may attempt something myself, but was wondering whether anyone else has had success in modifying the default St. Barts, to make it more realistic?cheers,Stuart

Stuart Have you tried Christian Delblond's freeware scenery for St. Barts (FS9) in FSX, together with the mesh he recommends?I haven't, yet, but I use his scenery in FS9 and love it. From what I see, the FlyTampa payware stuff is likely to be more accurate and better done, but hey, Christian's is freeware. Note that he has also done renditions of several other Caribbean airports including TNCM.MarkMark "Dark Moment" BeaumontVP Fleet, DC-3 AirwaysTeam Member, MAAM-SIM[a href=http://www.swiremariners.com/cx.html" target="_blank]http://www.paxship.com/avsimlogo.jpg[/a]

No guarantees.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/174465.zipStill needs a lot of work - not really happy with it.I use Christian's terminal, but had to take apart the bgl in order to put it in the right place. There is also a custom version:http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/174466.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/174467.jpgOver 25 MB so far and not finished at all.Best regards.Luis

I have been tempted to ask this question on a few occasions. I am really surprised that ACES did such a great job on TNCM and missed this island copmpletely. I have FSG mesh and doesn't seem to change anything there.I am still holding out hope that FlyTampa will update their FS9 scenery.

I really enjoyed Islands of the West Indies I got from Flight1.If I had that for FSX with scenery maker, and FScargo I would be a happy guy.Well at least for a few days.Yeah the first thing I did when I first ran FSX was head over to St Barts. Not a very good first impression. Its really BAD.

Luis,The zip file link that you posted was only 37 KB, not 25 MB. Is thereother files to try / use?Cheers,Stuart

Vector terrain is pretty compact, Stuart, which is the great advantage over custom ground.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/174484.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/174485.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/174486.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/174487.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/174488.jpgNot happy at all with the land class, but all the others have trees that are much too big. And I hate the sunken airport, but no sloping runways in FS!By the way, Stuart, the forum limit for attachments is 150 kB, not even close to 25 MB.Best regards.Luis
