KDFW Update and bad perfromance?

Recommended Posts

I thought I saw KDFW zip by in the list of files with SU10...can't be sure but maybe?

Anyway, I "think" it looks better now...more detail (a good thing), but performance is horrible.  Anyone one else experiencing this too?  I seem to remember in the past that KDFW looked "decent" for a bespoke airport (I have the Premium MSFS edition), and performance was OK.
Other larger airports don't seem to have the same performance hit....hoping that a 3rd party dev will pick up this airport and give us a detailed and optimized version.

Steve Dra

@Steve Dra I don’t have MSFS yet but being a Dallas guy as well, that sounds disappointing. I had the same issue back in the FSX days until FSDT came out with DFW that performed better. Btw, does MSFS have and programmetry for Dallas or the metroplex yet?

@Steve Dra I think they fixed an issue on the taxiway Z bridge that caused aircraft to flip over and crash.  Not sure of other updates.  Next time I fire up the sim I will check to see what my frames are at DFW... that is where I last landed after my last flight (in SU9).

There is a mod on flightsim.to that adds a lot of detail to downtown....including the keyhole bldg and the building I worked at for 8 years (Bryan Tower for Baylor Healthcare).

Here are a few shots, the real one is from the 25th floor of Bryan Tower where I worked.  The left-most green arrow shows where I took the shot from on the 25th floor.

Its pretty detailed and of course much better than P3d ever represented Dallas.   I know FSDT did KDFW for P3d....hoping they bring it to MSFS. 🙂

Yeah I noticed more detail on the roadway crossovers in the sim now...still not holes under them as in real life....but certainly look better and elevation looks good.   I did not taxi over them yet in the update...always cool in real life to be going under one when a big jet taxis by. 🙂

@Steve Dra Looks good in those shots.

How’s the north side of KDAL look around Bachman lake and the north east corner of that area looking down Northwest Hwy?

I can't wait until Bill Womack releases KDAL. He will also include some POI’s from downtown Dallas.

Doing a flight now from Atlanta to Dallas in the Fenix A320 with flightsim.to downtown scenery installed. I'll see what I get on arrival

Just arrived at KDFW. I run my settings mostly at Ultra for the majority of the settings, PG was enabled and FPS locked at 50% (30). Approach, landing and taxi were silky smooth as before. No stutters or hiccups noted. Had a few Vatsim aircraft traffic in the area and on the ground. FPS never left 30. My VRAM was at around 13500mb.

I just tried KDFW with Full AI enabled through Traffic Controller and full settings using the new LVFR A319 and it was pretty smooth.  Aside from the bridge fix, nothing else was updated at the airport.  The airport scenery as it is right now is outdated and needs some love.  The new North taxiway system hasn't been incorporated and neither have the gates south of Terminal D which are operational already.  We need FlyTampa or FSDT to do their magic and bring us a good KDFW.

Sincerely,

Dennis D. Müllert

I was able to get it a bit smoother by turning down some settings.  working off an old and trusty 2070 Super....hoping to skip the 3000 series and go right to a 4080 (probably 16 since it seems like the consensus of the folks that know are thinking the 4080 12 should have really be branded a 4070....we'll see what the benchmarks say)

@cmpbellsjc , haven't checked there in a while, but like Dan said....Bill will crush KDAL and hopefully surrounding area!

@Steve Dra I am sitting at gate B12 in the PMDG 737-700 and my frames are in the low 30's on the flight deck. This is a bit lower than before SU10.  If I pan so that I am not looking directly at the terminal the frames go up.  I also have a 2070 Super.  I haven't updated any graphics drivers, so not sure if that would help.  For another quick test, I placed myself at the gate at KDCA (Drzewiecki) and frames were same as before.

Definitely fun to pass under a taxiing widebody... have done so with 767, 777, 787, and MD11.  Also, like driving on the northbound service road and seeing a plane parked at A8.  Nice view if you get stopped at the traffic light right there.

I'll have to check out that downtown Dallas scenery.
