Nvidia released a new fork of GRD driver today, the 522.25, and they are a cut above.  I just spent 5 hours with them in P3Dv5.3 flying low and slow (what else?😁) across the southwestern U.S.  The driver performed without a glitch, and indeed the repaints for my A2A aircraft again look like they did in P3Dv4.  Most importantly, there is this from the release notes:

This Game Ready Driver also includes significant DirectX 12 performance optimizations which can dramatically improve performance for GeForce 30 Series GPUs.

On my 30 series card in P3dv5.3/DX12 the driver decreased frame rate variation (flying with these drivers was very smooth!), offered more clarity to lights and specular highlights, and better color contrast and vibrance, as well as truer colors.  Not sure about the claimed "performance" improvements (I run at 30 fps).  Anyone flying a DirectX 12 sim should certainly check out the 522.25 drivers!

I, too, seem to be having a fun time with these drivers.  They are definitely smooth when switching views (which with some other drivers caused pauses), and the image clarity seems excellent.  Of course, many will say it's a psychological or placebo effect, and well, if it is, I'm pretty pleased with it.

So far, so good with the performance of the drivers.  Still struggling with AA in windowed mode on v5, though.  Using SSAA in the sim or NI, tanks night lighting performance and causes horrible shimmers on the ground; but the aircraft looks great.  Using MSAA gives great performance with minimal shimmering on the ground, but awful shimmering on my aircraft.

Still can't win.
