October 22, 20223 yr Hi all, what is the proper way of installing or removing scenery in MSFS? I have always just placed it in the community folder, then ran MSFS....if I wanted to try a different scenery then I removed the old one and replace the new on into the community folder then ran the sim..OR do I remove the old one, run the sim without the new one first...shut down, then install the new one? October 22, 20223 yr You really should be using Addon Linker instead of manually copying stuff back and forth... I just uncheck it in Addon Linker and then check the new one, order isn't that important as long as the NEW one is checked before you start the sim a second time.https://flightsim.to/file/1572/msfs-addons-linker Edited October 22, 20223 yr by Alpine Scenery AMD 5800x | Nvidia 3080 (12gb) | 64gb ram
October 22, 20223 yr Author Ok, started to use addon linker now for the first time...took some time to organize my addons, plus for the time being I did not move my PMDG, Madog and other aircrafts that use a installer and have their own app. Or can I move it all. But then I need to make sure the software these planes use point to the addons folder right? not the community? October 22, 20223 yr I've had some issues with the PMDG and using the linker, so it may be easier to leave that one alone for now. Every other 3rd party aircraft has worked normally using the linker after moving them out of the community folder. Some have had success though moving the PMDG as well:https://forum.pmdg.com/forum/main-forum/pmdg-737-for-msfs/221933-addon-linker There is also an Addon Linker "How To" Guide (includes special PMDG instructions)https://flightsim.to/file/14298/msfs-addons-linker-general-procedure Edited October 22, 20223 yr by Alpine Scenery AMD 5800x | Nvidia 3080 (12gb) | 64gb ram

To get back to your original question, removing and adding stuff to the community folder can be done at the same time. It is not necessary to remove something, run MSFS, exit MSFS and then add something else. Which is what the Addon Linker facilitates. I have been using it since it was initially released. ...jim ASUS Prime Z790-E, Intel i9 13900K, 32Gb DDR5 Ram, Nvidia 3090 24Gb, Samsung 970 EVO Plus 500 GB and 1 TB, Samsung Odyssey G9 Ultrawide 49" G-SYNC Monitor.
