October 25, 20223 yr Hello all, After being out of flight simming for several years due to starting a family I’m finally able to get back at it. I need some help with a new build. I have never used MSFS so I will be easily impressed. I plan on running at 1440p (High/ultra-settings) and eventually move to 4k. I typically fly PMGD/highly detailed aircraft and use add on scenery (Flight beam, Fly Tampa, etc.) I have put together a new rig and would appreciate any feedback. I don’t need to have the “top of the line” or bleeding edge. October 28, 20223 yr Depending how desperate you are to build the release of the new AMD X3D processors are just around the corner and are looking to be very good CPU's. I built my PC a couple of months ago and did consider the i9-12900K but couldn't justify the extra cost compared to the little extra performance I would have got. The 12700K was a good sweet spot and I run with a 3090. Even with my rig it is very easy to become main thread limited. Things have improved with the performance of SU10 and the latest Nvidia game ready drivers though. Win 11 seems to have better optimization for the newer 12th Gen CPU's Richard i7-12700K | Noctua NH-D15S Black Version | MSI Pro Z690 - A | 32 GB DDR4 3600 | Gigabyte Gaming OC 4090 | 1TB WD Blue NMVe (MSFS 2020) | 500 GB WD Black Gen 4 NVMe | 4TB WD Black Conventional | Fractal Design Torrent Case | Seasonic 1000W Gold Plus PSU | Thrustmaster Boeing Yoke | Honeycomb Throttle | Airbus Side Stick | Virpil Rudder Pedals | Sony X90K 55 Inch TV |
November 29, 20223 yr Right now the fastest DDR4 matches DDR5 performance, but at a lower cost and higher availability. The only reason to go DDR5 is future proofing, it's unlikely later Intel CPUs will support DDR4. ckyliu, proud supporter of ViaIntercity.com. i5 12400F, 32GB, RTX4070, more in "About me" on my profile.
