Integrating switches MSFS2020

Featured Replies

Good afternoon! I’m in the beginning phase of putting together a home flight sim and I’ve decided on MSFS2020. I’ll probably fly all the planes, but it’s going to be primarily used for the two aircraft I fly real world (C-172 and Citation CJ).

My question is regarding external toggle type switches… Once I get my simulator set up, I’d like to add (in somewhat actual position) light switches, anti-ice, and ignition (I realize that the CJ4 doesn’t have ignition switches, I primarily am in the CJ2 which does, so I’ll have those in there not connected, but to do per muscle memory.

Can I add my own toggle switches for anti-ice and landing lights and have said switches control those functions on the sim?

Thanks much for any feedback!

I can’t speak for that specific aircraft. But look into spad.next. I use it for all my hardware to interface with msfs.

5800X3D, 4090FE, 64GB DDR4 3600C16, Gigabyte X570S MB, EVO 970 M.2's, Alienware 3821DW  and 2  22" monitors, Corsair RM1000x PSU,  360MM MSI MEG, MFG Crosswind, T16000M Stick, Boeing TCA Yoke/Throttle, Skalarki MCDU and FCU, Logitech Radio Panel/Switch Panel, Spad.Next

Yes, you can. There are a variety of ways to do this. On the hardware side, there are HID (human interface devices) such as Bodnar boards that interface as game controllers to your computer. MSFS will natively detect these and you can program inside the MSFS interface.

For more flexibility, there are softwares such as SpadNext, Axis&Ohs, FSUIPC and AirManager that work inbetween the hardware and MSFS.

My current cockpit setup uses Bodnar HID boards and Axis&Ohs with MSFS.

Working on MSFS 2024 versions.

I am using Mobiflight for my A320 home cockpit. Easy to use and free!
