Mixed feelings about default ATC

Featured Replies

While I enjoy some aspects of the new default ATC, as for example the localization of some procedures, like giving altimeter settings in Hpa instead of InHg depending on the geographical area, and even some details of simulating a small aerodrome AFIS / Radio the guidance for IFR flights leaves a lot to be desireds. There being no SIDs / STAR not awareness, the vectoring looks really weird at times.

Climbing to cruise is always single step ( always cleared for you cruise ALT / FL ) and step down for descent intop destination can be done with instructions to descend to really low levels and most of the time then climb again, descend, climb, ....

Wonder if the final release planned for December includes a fine tuned ATC ?

I am hoping that they will continue improve the default ATC. I will use it up to a point but your right, the IFR is lot to be desired and needs more polishing.  It definity needs to have SID and STAR to eliminate this turn by turn instructions once you enter your star where this no aircraft or traffic. Nice feature is if it can recognize other traffic universally on the ground and in the air with other traffic addon. I wonder in order to get the atc to recognize traffic for example World Traffic, So far I been leaving it off so I can practices my approaches at various situation in the Zibo mod or running some other test. I can be fully engage with the ATC once the sim goes to its final release. Meanwhile I am going keep testing.

If you're missing a feature or think something about default ATC should be improved, open a ticket on X-Plane's bug tracker so Jim Vile (Laminar's ATC guy) doesn't have to dig through piles of forum posts.

I know, but it's tedious to have to include LOG files for stuff that has nothing to do with runtime errors but are rather suggestions for improvement...

Also, most iof the time I get time to think about this I am away from my sim PC 😕

Well, you have to get the message to Laminar somehow as every second they are expected to read through flight sim forums to dig up improvement suggestions is a second lost for actually working on said immprovements.

Just a thumbs up regarding the issues I presented Austin and he directed to Jim who kindly answered.

Without going into details, because these were email messages, all I can say is that I am confident the issues listed above have already been identified and corrected and / or make part of future development of the default XP12 ATC.

I'm glad !
