MSFS Options Backup

Recommended Posts

Creating custom options profiles in MSFS is a laborious process so it would be nice if they can be backed-up in case they must be recreated.  Is it possible to backup ?  Path/file name(s) of options ?

I'm not sure if the MS Store version is different for that part, but for the Steam version it's C:\Users\<windows user name>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft Flight Simulator\UserCfg.opt

He is talking about the joystick profiles, as far as I know they are cloud based. Unfortunately.

Intel Core i7-11700F, mainboard MSI MPG B560I GAMING EDGE WIFI (MS-7D19), 32 GB DDR4 SDRAM, RTX3070, no OC for CPU, RAM or GPU, XMP off. MS Store version, default installation path on a 1 TB NVMe 4x 8 GT/s

That has advantages and disadvantages. In my case of complete install of Windows and the sim, it was very handy to have it stored automatically. In SPAD.next profiles can be stored, you have to save bakcups yourself, but the advantage is automatic loading specific airplane profiles. Setting them up is another story though- time consuming and difficult (but imho worth the trouble).

I posted this recently in a similar thread:

"Just in case you fancy manually backing up your control mappings and logbook see below ... this is for my Steam version but if you search your PC for the filename below it should point you to the appropriate location:

I have a folder containing controller mappings under my main Steam/userdata folder … this folder (named “remote”) sits under a couple of other numbered (not named) folders: “…/Steam/userdata/10842504/1250410/remote”.

In this “remote” folder I have “inputprofile_[xxx]” files which describe my latest mouse, keyboard and controller mappings, there are also files for other things like the logbook.

A search for “inputprofile_” or similar might help you find these files if they exist on your system.

Cheers!"
