Help wanted with re Install using steam

Featured Replies

Hello everyone

I have just reinstalled MSFS latest version by steam and have the following problem.

1. The install was to my E drive into a folder called MSFS2020

When I open this folder MSFS2020 inside I have 2 folders a Community Folder and an Official Folder.

2. When i open the official folder inside is one called STEAM and inside that STEAM folder are all the packages. When I had it before I did  the reinstall there was no STEAM folder inside the Official Folder and all the packages were in the official folder when i opened it.

3. I can run the simulator and it loads fine and I have configured everything in options etc etc.

4. However when I put the PMDG 738 into the community Folder and load the sim, under PROFILE/ CONTENT it shows the PMDG 737 installed from the community Folder but it does not appear in the hangar to be able to choose it.

5. However when i put scenery into the community folder it loads with the Sim ok.

Can someone help with this, could I copy everything from inside the steam folder to the Official folder and get rid of the steam folder. Would this weird structure be affecting the ability of the hangar to show all aircraft and not just default ones.

Would moving the content of the Steam Folder to the official folder mean that steam would not launch the SIM.

I hope this is clear enough for someone to assist me in getting this to work. As it took me 38 hours to reinstall the SIM  I dont really want to go through that all again.

Kind regards

Can't help with the PMDG, but the folders you are seeing are correct. In your case, you should see:

E:\MSFS2020\Official\Steam\[packages]

and

E:\MSFS2020\Community\[packages]

I have the same as JimBrown, I've re-installed at least twice since release and it's always been the same. I don't have the PMDG 738 but I do have the PMDG DC-6 and it runs fine from the Community folder.

Thank you for your replies. Jim I have checked what you said and I assume that regarding the community folder, by packages you mean any content inside the community folder. In which case mine is the same as yours. perhaps I need to uninstall and reinstall fully the PMDG 738 from their web site.

Kind regards

It seems the problem would have to be in the PMDG files, I sure don't think it is your folder layout.
