December 10, 20223 yr So this seems to happen about 50% of the time where as I'm ready to taxi and ask ground for taxi instructions and Ground asks me to contact Tower. Once the Tower frequency is active I immediately switch back to Ground and request taxi instructions again and it usually works after that. Sometimes I have to go through the frequency change again but usually it works on the 1st handoff. This has been on ongoing problem through many updates.
December 10, 20223 yr This happened to me when I requested taxi authorization from a spot that was close to the departure end of the runway. I got it to stop by moving my start-up spot to a location that’s farther from the runway.
December 12, 20223 yr Author I generally choose my parking spot so as to minimize the taxi distance. If what you say is the cause then it's definitely a bug and should be fixed. Edited December 12, 20223 yr by Flypops
December 27, 20223 yr In these situations I use a lillte work-around when holding at the intended runway holding point. If you get told to tune to ground, then just do as requested then get ground to hand you back to the tower again, but ask for a "midfield departure" rather than "ready for depature" etc. What is likely happening here is that the hold short node in the airport file doesn't line up with the visual hold short line you see in the cockpit, there is most likely another node closer to the runway. Bearing the above in mind you can also try just to taxi a little further forward to the runway and see if ground will automatically hand you off to the tower, at which point you will be able to request departure. Cheers, Andy.

What you've outlined above has little to nothing to do with my original post. I don't have any problem (generally) in getting released for departure. The problem with ground sending me to tower occurs right after pushback from gate. I've yet to even begin to taxi as I'm just at the point of requesting it. Often times, even after switching to tower and back to ground it will at that point tell me to backtrack (to departure runway) even though there are multiple taxi lanes at the given airport. It would seem to me that a backtrack should only be used in cases where there's no taxiways or they are for some reason unavailable, although even the latter would be difficult to understand in a simulator.
December 29, 20223 yr Have you run the Taxi Management app and imported the airports you are having problems with? Sounds like it isn't seeing anything at all at the moment other than a runway. Edited December 29, 20223 yr by Andydigital Cheers, Andy.
