MSFS -- Setup Questions

Featured Replies

Two questions re; setting up MSFS to work with a Honeycomb bravo quadrant.

(1) Flaps:  What are the MSFS settings needed to get the flaps toggle switch to move and hold on a setting?  And;

(2) Conflicts:  Probably a stupid question, but do I need to clear out all conflicts amongst every controller device (i.e., with any/all other peripheral devices), including those that are assigned in the keyboard?

Thanks folks,

Brian

By default it should just work. Mine did. The assignments should already be assigned. You can check this by going in controller settings and selecting the option on the top left somewhere that says something along the lines of "find by input or press" or something like that. Then hit the flap switch and if it is assigned it will pop up on the screen with the designation. I reckon it will be. However, if not you can just search "flaps" and all the flaps assignments will show up. It will all be pretty obvious. I can't tell you the exact names as I'm not at the pc. Of course for jets you will want to assign flaps to an axis rather than the flap switch.

I copied the default profiles to create a new one with a new profile name then made profiles for each differing type of aircraft I fly. Twin jet, single engine piston, twin piston.....you get the idea. Make sure you download the bridge software from the Honeycombe website for the lights to work.

No. You don't have to. You can have the bravo flap switch adjust the flap as well as a button on your joystick and one on your yoke if you want. For instance, I have zoom and unzoom assigned on my yoke hat switch and my joystick hat switch at he same time.

I will warn you though. You will want to unbind some switches in some more advanced planes as they will cause problems. I don't use the light switches in the PMDG 737 or rocker switches for certain things in the Flysimware 414. They may work as a function but the animation in the cockpit won't move and other weirdness. I won't go into the reasons why. You can resolve this with another program like spadnext if you want but one thing at a time.

Thank you for your detailed response.  I would prefer to avoid the other control setup programs, though I do understand that there is some excellent quality in them.

And thanks for the clarification about conflicting controllers/functions.  At a start, can anyone advise what msfs settings they have engaged to get the Bravo flap toggle switch to operate correctly.  It seems that every time I try a new (guessing) set of msfs functions, I mess up something else??

...another stupid question:  should I shutdown/restart msfs when I make changes in the various controller assignments?  Presumably (??) I don't also have to restart the computer -- yes??

Thank you,

Brian

I haven’t seen a need to restart MSFS when charging controller assignments.
