blackbird sim C310

Featured Replies

I recently got the Cessna 310 from milviz and cannot figure out how to turn the landing lights on.  Can someone help?  I can extend and retract the landing lights on the wings, that works fine but how do you switch the lights on and off?  I can operate the taxi light on the nose.  This is the only thing I cannot figure out.

Thanks,

It's a two-stage switch. If you flick the switch up to the middle position, the lights extend. Switch it to the up position, the lights will turn on.

Yep I got it now. i appreciate it. I believe you also hafta (with the mouse) "lift up" after you extend the lights on the wings.

yeah, it does not play nicely with external switch gear but works fine with a mouse once you know how it is meant to work.

Thanks Glenn.. Do you fly the 310 often?  Mine pulls to the left a good bit and in the air in cruise it tends to want to turn left.  I compensated for this by using some rudder trim.  Has that also been your experience with it?

Possibly. My pedals have no detent so sometimes I subconsciously correct for yaw without realising it.

Latching onto this thread---I fly the 310 a lot and the last few months it's felt like on approach, even in calm weather, the plane rocks and rolls a lot to the point where it's a pretty massive struggle to keep it on line, which wasn't the case when I originally started flying it. It really only calms down once I get close to flaring. Is this just the MSFS turbulence model going a bit nuts? I guess I should fly some other planes and see if I get a similar result.

That is exactly my read on it.  And in some cases it seems localized.  Short final ro RNAV (GPS) 17 at KBGM has been a good example.  I fly there often, and have been into there IRL several times from 2016 to 2019 and experienced nothing like it.  i.e. is is not something native to that approach.

Do you have FSRealistic ?

If so the current mid-day MSFS turbulence combined with the FSRealistic turbulence together can get a bit nutty.

Try and fly in the early morning or late evening and if you have FSRealistic turn the turbulence off.

I get that challenge also.  The c310 is unique in the way it behaves.  I think im just not used to a study level twin engine prop.  The only other twin engine props i've ever flown was the DC3, and that's nowhere comparable to the C310.  And like you said, some of it could be Asobo driven, who knows.

I don't have FSRealistic, but I have definitely been flying a lot around midday in warmer spots. Maybe I'll experiment with some other places/times.

The only reason I'm suspicious it's Asobo is that the 310 wasn't this squirrelly when I started flying it. I also notice that it's pretty rock-steady when the autopilot is following an RNAV or ILS approach.

It's almost as if calm weather doesn't  mean there would be a complete lack of thernal activity.

Is the issue less pronounced at night?
