August 15, 200718 yr I'm unable to use FSX without first disabling "Unknown virus's" in my "Panda" antivirus utility. What is the chance of contracting a virus if I connected to the Net to use live weather downloads. Would I be taking a risk?Cliff
August 15, 200718 yr No problem. As long as your firewall is still active you'll be fine.Doug Intel 10700K @ 5.1Ghz, Asus Hero Maximus motherboard, Noctua NH-U12A cooler, Corsair Vengeance Pro 32GB 3200 MHz RAM, RTX 2060 Super GPU, Cooler Master HAF 932 Tower, Thermaltake 1000W Toughpower PSU, Windows 10 Professional 64-Bit, 100TB of disk storage. August 15, 200718 yr I've never owned a virus scanner or anything like it, I've never been attacked, and I'm online 24 hours a day.The key thing is to control your email tightly (don't open anything you don't know what it is), and don't go to sites you don't trust.Thomas[a href=http://www.flyingscool.com] http://www.flyingscool.com/images/Signature.jpg [/a]I like using VC's :-)N15802 KASH '73 Piper Cherokee Challenger 180 Tom Perry
August 15, 200718 yr It depends if somebody wants to hack you or get at you. The best chance of being safe is to have an external firewall sucn as on many routers. Personal firewalls built in to antivirus programs are not so good.Dan
August 15, 200718 yr Oh, I've got an external firewall. I didn't mean to poopoo that. I just don't believe in virus scanners. Much more trouble than they are worth, too me, anyway.Thomas[a href=http://www.flyingscool.com] http://www.flyingscool.com/images/Signature.jpg [/a]I like using VC's :-)N15802 KASH '73 Piper Cherokee Challenger 180 Tom Perry
August 15, 200718 yr Author It seems a heuristic false alarm, usually virus scanners rely on these type of approach to catch virus in the wild. Personally I'm using Kaspersky with heuristics at minimum, before this used NOD32 also very good in this department but switch due to a better score in the latest reviews.Jos
