GLEIM BATD

I'm considering this BATD. It just hurts me that I have an excellent set up and that I've already invested a lot money.

Is there a way to make this happen with my own computer and controllers?

Mine are of much better quality than the ones on the product page.

Thanks for the help.

AIUI, at the bare minimum you will need a professional licence for XP11 and organise a visit from the FAA.

You may also need some kind of association with an ATO (Approved Training Organisation)... but from your name since I guess you are a CFI... probably not so much of an issue.

then there is the "what aircraft" question, aiui the C172 is "good to go", but for others they need some finalising to get signed off.

Best person to ask this question for details is "probably" Austin..

The 172 is all I need to perform and log the holds, track nav courses, do 6 + approaches. Saves alot of $$$. Thanks.

I'm a way off convinced the numbers stack up for a C172, because the variable flight cost is so little vs the fixed annual costs.

Here is an FAA Advisory Circular giving guidance on certification.

I had no idea that there was an AC for a BATD.

Even Sporty's is spreading the word. Even thought FAA approved Flight Sims have been around for many years, I think that it's only recently when I've seen Sporty's pushing them to satisfy currency. There must be a market for these home simulators.
